Kyendi Kyendi
HIV medication delivery and discrete SMS reminders
Born with HIV, Sheila Alinda is the founder of Kyendi Kyendi. She lost her mother to AIDS as a child. Sheila saw first hand, how severe the stigma around HIV is for young people and how difficult it is for many to adhere to their medication regimen. Kyendi Kyendi in Luganda means “I am who I am”. The social enterprise offers a user-centered service providing medication delivery and SMS reminders, including motivational messages. The medication is wrapped like presents so the user in schools or their workplaces is not stigmatized. Designed to help young people stay on their HIV treatment, Kyendi Kyendi guarantees privacy about people's status to avoid stigma.
