We’re proud to celebrate Janet Aguti, founder of Totya Platform, a SINA social enterprise, who has been recognised as Child Safeguarding Champion of the Year 2025. A survivor herself, Janet has turned her experience into action, driving awareness, protection, and practical support that keeps children safe.
Totya—meaning “Don’t be afraid”—was created to ensure every child can recognise violence, knows their rights, and can access help without fear or stigma. The platform has assisted over 5,000 survivors (most of them children), delivered urgent medical care to more than 1,000, and operates Uganda’s only toll-free helpline for sexual violence survivors, a lifeline especially for those in remote areas. Through strong collaboration with police and legal partners, Totya’s work has contributed to 500+ convictions, reinforcing that sexual violence will not go unpunished.
From all of us at SINA: congratulations, Janet for your courage, leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting children and supporting victims of sexual violence!
