SINA Corona response

Due to the mandated lock down, people in Uganda are unable to generate an income which provides their families with food and pays for utilities. SINA and its social enterprises have rolled-up their selves and are supporting Ugandans to get through this crisis. Together we have launched a crowdfunding campaign, organised a hackathon and are utilising different products of enterprises to support our local district.

Through the launch of our crowdfunding campaign, SINA and four of its social enterprises (GEJJA Women Foundation, Uganics, Reform Africa and Ouroots Africa) have collaborated to support families in our local community with an essential supply package. Up until today, we have managed to deliver over 400 packages to families in need in Mpigi District. Thank you for all of your support!

In collaboration with StartHub Africa and Zetu Africa, SINA has organised a hackathon #SmarterThanCorona to identify challenges and solutions to the COVID-19 crisis in Uganda. In total over 150 participants and 30 mentors took part in the three day design sprint and developed impressive solutions for the challenges of food security, access to healthcare, education, wellbeing and economic insecurity. Check-out their pitch videos on our facebook page.

Our social enterprises are turning this challenge into an opportunity. Today Uganics and GEJJA Women Foundation have handed over supplies worth 9.5m UGX (2.500 USD) to the Mpigi District Task Force, who will distribute them further to the families in most need.
