We are thrilled to announce that SINA (Social Innovation Academy) has been nominated for the Inaugural ZeroDX Awards 2024, recognizing innovative models of self-management and organizational transformation from around the globe. The award is initiated by Haier, inarguably one of the most fascinating success stories in self-organization. Based in China, Haier grew from a struggling refrigerator factory in the 1980s to the world’s leading home appliance manufacturer with 80,000 employees working in small self-organized teams (called micro Enterprises) and embracing a revolutionary self-management philosophy called RenDanHeYi. This model dismantles traditional hierarchies, empowering the small and autonomous teams to drive innovation and make decisions in direct response to customer needs. By fostering a “Zero Distance” approach—minimizing the gap between the company and its users—Haier has created a global ecosystem where entrepreneurship thrives and rapid innovation is the norm.
The ZeroDX Awards celebrate organizations that embody these principles of self-management, collaboration, and agility, recognizing those that, like Haier, are rethinking how organizations can operate in a fast-changing world. SINA is honored to stand among the nominated pioneers, contributing to a future where self-organized communities lead the way in social impact and sustainable growth.
Two organizations, independently from one another, have chosen SINA for this honor, showcasing the global recognition of our freesponsible approach to youth empowerment and social entrepreneurship, after also the Tony Hsieh Award in 2022 and the Modern Work Award in 2022 recognized the progressive organizational model of SINA. We’re deeply honored to be part of this movement, and we extend our gratitude to Corporate Rebels and the LAP Alliance for their support in nominating us.
Representing SINA, Etienne Salborn and a successful SINA entrepreneur have been invited to be attending the award ceremony on September 20th in Qingdao, China.
