Growing up in rural Uganda, Akramz Ssemambo saw firsthand how communities were disconnected from tourism. Poverty, lack of access to education, and environmental degradation are everyday challenges, while tourism often benefits only a few. Many of these communities are also heavily reliant on coffee production as a source of income, but face challenges, including disconnection from markets.
Muyaayu Wild Adventure Safaris is a Ugandan-based social enterprise dedicated to transforming the tourism and coffee industries into catalysts for social, environmental, and economic change, redefining tourism and coffee as drivers of sustainable development, community empowerment, and ecological conservation. Founded by Akram Ssemambo with the vision of going beyond traditional safaris, Muyaayu offers immersive experiences that connect travelers with Uganda’s breathtaking wilderness, vibrant culture, and resilient communities while creating lasting social impact. Every booking made, a portion of 25percent of our profits goes to support community development. Our coffee project empowers rural farmers in Mpigi and Elgon by giving them access to ethical markets, and every gram sold helps fund community services.
