Job, Volunteer and Research Opportunities

The life you change might be your own!

Internships and Volunteer Positions

We are always open for applications and there are always different positions available. Many diverse opportunities exist to intern or volunteer in one of our SINA communities or with one of our SINA enterprises. This is an ideal entry to gain international job experience or enter into the sector of development cooperation. Useful skills range from education, business administration, psychology, regenerative development, and agroforestry, to finance or monitoring and evaluation. If you are self-driven and passionate, you will fit right in.

Opportunities exist in Uganda (Kampala, Mpigi), the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa, Bukavu) and in Refugee Camps/Settlements in Uganda and Zimbabwe. We do not charge anything and some SINA Communities or enterprises might be able to offer accommodation and meals, however, costs are generally on you.

You could help a SINA Social Enterprise fight sexual violence and rape through a hotline, support the training and administration in a SINA community or help in its Monitoring and Evaluation. Opportunities are endless. Check out our SINA Communities and/ or enterprises. We will help you find the best possible fit for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Research Needs

We would love to create further scientific proof of the impact SINA creates on individual scholars and the local community and society. We are looking for researchers and academic partners and opportunities for Master’s thesis, PHD research or university projects exist. Depending on the research, we might be able to cover accommodation, meals and some expenses. Ideas for potential research topic ideas could be:

  • Evaluation of the impact of SINA on scholars (in direction of personal or professional growth)
  • Quantitative or Qualitative assessment of the impact a SINA has on the local community
  • How can the “freesponsibility” model and self-organization principles be adapted and scaled in diverse cultural settings?
  • To what extent is SINA “regenerative” in relation to our Framework (with self-organization, empowerment and community)?
How do SINA graduates from post-conflict areas or refugee camps contribute to local economies through social entrepreneurship?
  • What is the effect of the self-organized structure of SINA in relation to the empowerment of scholars?
  • How does SINA’s implementation of Holacracy contribute to scholars’ personal growth and entrepreneurial success?
  • How does the self organized structure using Holacracy, whereby scholars create their own curriculum by taking up roles and responsibilities is key in the empowerment process of scholars?
  • How sustainable are the social enterprises initiated in refugee camps? What factors influence their long-term survival and success?
  • How does the Confusion Stage of “unlearning” limiting beliefs affect long-term entrepreneurial success?
  • How does the economic performance of SINA graduates compare to those from traditional educational institutions in Uganda?
