SINA officially started in 2015 to awaken the potential and dreams of vulnerable youth and support the creation of jobs. The young people’s creations and innovations can be seen throughout the compound, where structures made from mud and plastic bottles have been constructed. SINA enables marginalized young people to become social entrepreneurs and create their own jobs, regardless of background. Scholars stay for an average of one and a half years, though the academy is open to those who stay longer and produce their own enterprises. SINA’s success has led to replication in other African countries like Congo, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, and in several refugee settlements across Uganda.
