Unlocking Personal Growth and Empowering Communities: Reflections from the current SINA replicators on their replication journey so far…

Young individuals have embarked on a transformative journey at Jangu International. These young changemakers, hailing from various backgrounds and originating from Bombo district, are in the process of replicating the SINA (Social Innovation Academy) model in their own community. The experience during their replication journey is an eye-opening adventure that is reshaping their perceptions and outlook on life.

Maurice Michael, who used to be a lone wolf, preferring solitary work to teamwork, is now realizing the immense power of collaboration through SINA. He has understood that not every task can be mastered individually and that working collectively makes things easier. Maurice now cherishes the synergy that comes from collaboration and finds himself thriving in group settings.

Simon, another local youth, is currently emphasizing how SINA is unlocking his potential for public speaking and creativity. Before joining SINA, standing in front of a crowd was a daunting task for him. Now, he confidently presents ideas, using the resources at hand to bring them to life. The newfound ability to ideate and utilize available resources is proving to be a game-changer for him.

Communication was a significant hurdle for the replicators before SINA, but through the program, they are learning to connect with others effectively. This newfound ability to communicate is boosting their self-esteem and opening doors to opportunities they never thought possible.

The replicators are also delving into the world of entrepreneurship, gaining valuable experience in time management and effective communication. The emphasis on observation before action, as well as the adoption of principles such as “putting first things first,” equips them with the skills needed to succeed in business.

SINA is challenging them to step out of their comfort zones, teaching them that in entrepreneurship, success often requires enduring hardships before reaping the rewards. This newfound understanding is motivating them to persevere through the challenges they face.

As they reflect on their ongoing journey at SINA, the replicators express a strong desire to give back to their community in Bombo. They aspire to replicate the SINA model in their hometown, helping local youth discover their potential and create impactful social enterprises.

In the words of one participant, “I’m among those youths who are facing different life challenges. Me being picked as one of them is a big chance for my friends in Bombo. I will learn to connect them to organizations and funders, helping them establish their businesses and social enterprises.”

The 3-month Applied Social Innovation Stage at Jangu International with Replicators from Don Bosco is not only transforming individual lives but also holds the promise of igniting a wave of positive change throughout the community of Bombo district and beyond.
